Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 19, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Tuft NYC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information about you when you visit tuft.nyc (the "Site"), book an appointment, visit our shops, or interact with our services. By using our Site or services, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide to Us

We collect information that you provide directly, including:

  • Name, email address, and phone number when booking appointments, making purchases, or contacting us.

  • Booking and appointment history.

  • Service preferences, including selected services and preferred barber.

  • Communications you send to us, including messages submitted through forms, text messages, and emails.

  • Marketing preferences, including whether you have opted in to receive promotional communications.

  • Information you provide when applying for employment ("Work With Us"), submitting House Call requests, or inquiring about Private Events.

Information About Payments

Tuft NYC does not directly collect, process, or store payment card information. All payment information is collected and processed by our third-party providers, including Boulevard for appointment payments and Shopify for product purchases. Please refer to those providers' privacy policies for details on how they handle payment data.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our Site, we and our third-party service providers may automatically collect:

  • Device and browser information, including IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers.

  • Usage information, including pages visited, time spent on pages, links clicked, and referring URLs.

  • Session recordings and heatmap data collected by Lucky Orange to help us understand how users interact with our Site.

  • Analytics data collected by Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, and similar services.

  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see "Cookies & Tracking Technologies" below).

Information from Photography

We may collect photographs and videos of customers and completed services during visits to our shops, for use in marketing and on social media. See our Photography & Social Media section in our Terms & Conditions for details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our services and Site.

  • Process appointments, communicate about bookings, and send appointment reminders and confirmations.

  • Send marketing and promotional communications, but only with your explicit consent.

  • Respond to inquiries, requests, and customer service needs.

  • Operate and improve our business, including through analytics, user behavior analysis, and customer feedback.

  • Promote our services through social media, advertising, and content marketing.

  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, security issues, and violations of our Terms.

  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

3. How We Share Your Information

We share information with the following categories of third parties:

Service Providers

We share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, including:

  • Boulevard — appointment booking, payment processing, and SMS communications.

  • Shopify — e-commerce, product purchases, and website hosting.

  • Klaviyo and Shopify Email — email marketing and customer communications.

  • Google Analytics — website analytics.

  • Meta Pixel (Facebook/Instagram) — advertising and analytics, including conversion tracking.

  • Lucky Orange — session recording, heatmaps, and user behavior analytics.

  • CookieYes — cookie consent management.

Advertising and Marketing Partners

We may share information with advertising platforms (including Meta and Instagram) for the purpose of delivering targeted advertising and measuring ad effectiveness.

Legal and Safety

We may disclose information when required by law, in response to legal process, to protect our rights or property, or to protect the safety of our customers, employees, or the public.

Business Transfers

If Tuft NYC is involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or similar transaction, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We do not sell your personal information for monetary consideration. Some of our advertising and analytics practices may be considered "sharing" or "selling" under certain state privacy laws (see "Your Rights & Choices" below).

4. Marketing Communications (SMS & Email)

Text Messages (SMS)

We send two types of text messages:

  • Transactional messages — appointment confirmations, reminders, cancellation notices, and other service-related messages. These are sent when you provide your phone number for the purpose of booking a service.

  • Promotional messages — marketing texts about appointment availability, new services, products, promotions, and special offers. These are only sent if you have explicitly opted in via a separate consent mechanism (such as a dedicated checkbox at the booking step).

Promotional text messages from Tuft NYC are sent only with your express written consent obtained through a separate opt-in mechanism. Marketing SMS is never sent as a condition of receiving services. By opting in to receive promotional text messages from Tuft NYC, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • Message frequency varies.

  • Standard message and data rates may apply.

  • You can opt out of promotional text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message.

  • You can request help at any time by replying HELP.

  • Carriers (including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and others) are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

  • Your mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

  • Opting out of promotional messages does not affect transactional messages necessary to deliver our services.

Emails

We send two types of emails:

  • Transactional emails — appointment confirmations, reminders, cancellation notices, receipts, and other service-related messages. These are necessary to provide our services and cannot be opted out of while you have active bookings.

  • Promotional emails — marketing emails about appointment availability, new services, products, promotions, and special offers.

By completing a booking, signing up for our newsletter, or otherwise providing your email address to Tuft NYC, you consent to receive promotional emails from us. You can unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link included in every marketing email. Unsubscribing from promotional emails does not affect transactional emails necessary to deliver our services.

5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Our Site uses cookies and similar tracking technologies (such as pixels, web beacons, and local storage) to operate the Site, analyze usage, deliver advertising, and improve your experience. We use cookies for the following purposes:

  • Strictly necessary — required for the Site to function.

  • Performance and analytics — to understand how visitors use our Site (Google Analytics, Lucky Orange).

  • Functionality — to remember your preferences and settings.

  • Advertising and targeting — to deliver personalized advertising (Meta Pixel and similar).

You can manage cookie preferences through the cookie banner on our Site, powered by CookieYes. You may also be able to manage cookies through your browser settings, though disabling certain cookies may affect Site functionality.

6. Photography & Social Media

We photograph and video completed services in our shops for use in marketing, social media, our Site, and other promotional materials. By visiting our shops, you acknowledge that you may be photographed or recorded. If you do not wish to be photographed, please notify your barber. We do not knowingly publish identifying images of minors without parental consent.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we collect from loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active, as needed to provide our services, to comply with legal obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we will delete or anonymize it in accordance with applicable law.

9. Your Rights & Choices

Marketing Opt-Out

You can opt out of marketing text messages by replying STOP to any promotional text. You can opt out of marketing emails by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
